I am happy to announce the formation of a bipartisan Public Transportation Legislative Caucus that will examine the issues related to public transportation across the state. Public transportation brings our communities together. It connects employers with employees; it connects doctors with patients; it connects businesses with customers, and it would stimulate local economies. Rising fuel prices have made it clear we are in definite need of a well-functioning public transportation system. … Much has been done to advance public transportation in parts of Michigan over the last several years, but more needs to be done. The creation of the Legislative Public Transit Caucus is a great first step. It illustrates that building efficient and effective public transit is something that benefits all Michigan residents, regardless of political affiliation. …
