LANSING -- State Representative Marie Donigan (D-Royal Oak), with Andy Levin, Deputy Director of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth, held a town hall meeting Monday focusing on Michigan's No Worker Left Behind program.
"There are a number of challenges presented to workers who have seen their jobs outsourced to other states and countries, leaving Michigan's working families struggling to make ends meet during these difficult economic times," Donigan said. "Workers built this state, and we must do what we can to support them. The No Worker Left Behind proposal initiated by Governor Granholm is the right kind of solution."
Donigan was joined at the event by Levin, a lifelong advocate for good jobs, economic growth, healthy labor-management relations, and workers' rights. For the DLEG, Levin oversees operations of Workforce Programs, Commissions for the Blind, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, Career Education, Commission on Disability Concerns, Labor Market Information & Strategic Initiatives, Employment Relations, and the Michigan Broadband Authority
"We wanted to provide an environment at the town hall where middle-class families can learn what is being done about employment issues relating to job outsourcing, Michigan's business climate, and how the state is working for our workers," Donigan said. "We must invest in the people of this state to build a stronger Michigan and get our economy moving in the right direction."
