LANSING – State Representative Marie Donigan (D-Royal Oak) will host a public forum today with Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) director Kirk Steudle in order to give community members an opportunity to voice their concerns about the proposed widening of I-75.
"There has been a loud, public discussion going about widening I-75," Donigan said. "We're all talking about it. It's important that Lansing leaders hear from us about this issue."
Steudle recently took over as MDOT's director. In addition to conducting a question-and-answer session, he will give an update on MDOT's study of I-75.
"Some have said widening I-75 will increase taxes and add to city sprawl," Donigan said. "That's why I set up this forum with MDOT. Royal Oak residents will be affected by an I-75 project and it's vital that we make our voices heard."
The I-75 forum will be at 7 p.m. today at KellerMiddle School, 1505 N. Campbell Road in Royal Oak. It is free and open to the public.
