State Representative Pam Faris is currently serving her third term as Representative of the 48th Michigan House District, having been elected in 2012, 2014 and 2016. Before joining the Michigan House of Representatives, Faris was elected to the Mott Community College Board of Trustees. As a member of the Michigan Early Childhood Investment Corporation and the Michigan Women’s Commission, Faris worked passionately to improve education and advance women’s health and equality policy throughout the state. Representative Faris retired from the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, where she served as jury coordinator.
Representative Faris has been appointed to serve on the House Appropriations Committee during each of her three terms in office. Her experience in government, education and health policy led to her current appointments as Minority Vice-Chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Health and Human Services and as a member of the School Aid and Education and the General Government Appropriations Subcommittees. Representative Faris has also served as legislative co-chair of the Michigan Children’s Trust Fund; Political Action Committee Chair of the Progressive Women’s Caucus; and a member of her caucus’ Great Lakes Task Force. She was appointed by the Speaker of the House to represent the Michigan House of Representatives this term as a member of the Health and Human Services Committees for both the Council of State Governments and the National Council of State Legislatures.
Representative Faris has an associate degree from Mott Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Baker College. Pam and her husband, John, are longtime residents of Clio. They have two children, Meghan and John, a daughter-in-law, Teresa, and two granddaughters, Madeline and Diana. Pam enjoys spending free time hosting family dinners, reading and gardening.
