LANSING — Tonight, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer delivered her first State of the State address, outlining her vision for the state and calling for bipartisan collaboration to address the issues facing Michigan’s working families. In response, state Rep. Tim Sneller (D-Burton) issued the following statement:

“There are a number of issues facing our communities today, perhaps none more pressing than the educational crisis that still plagues our public school system. Underfunding schools causes crowded classrooms and the inability to equip our students with the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century, and that’s why I’m grateful to have an advocate of education reform in the governor’s office. I was also very happy to hear Gov. Whitmer reaffirm her dedication to fixing our crumbling roads and infrastructure, as this is one of the issues my district cares most about. As we move forward with this new session, I remain committed to supporting legislation that prioritizes hardworking families all across Michigan.”
